Admission Eligibility: |

| 1.1 |
A citizen of India who has passed B.A. / B.Sc. degree examination of Bangalore University or any University in India or abroad recognized as equivalent through 10 + 2 + 3 pattern of education obtaining 50% of marks in aggregate of all the subjects he/she has studied for 3 years / 6 semesters; with or without any electives and securing a 50% pass mark in the Entrance Test conducted by RIESI will be eligible for admission.
The candidate must have studied English as a language in his/her degree programme 2 years / 4 semesters and should have secured an aggregate of 50% marks in English language (both years included).
OR
A citizen of India who has passed a 3 years B.A. English Honors / English Literature / optional English / Communicative English / Functional English degree programmes with or without any elective subject securing 50% marks in the aggregate and 50% pass mark in the Entrance Test conducted by RIESI will be eligible for admission. Such candidates musthave studied English as a language in their degree for 2 years / 4 semesters and should have secured an aggregate of 50% marks in English language and securing a 50% pass mark in the Entrance Test conducted by RIESI will be eligible for admission.
OR
A citizen of India who has passed a two year M.A. degree in English of Bangalore University/ or any university in India through the 10 + 2 + 3 system and who has secured 50% of marks in the aggregate of all the subjects in the 2 years / 4 semesters of study. Such candidates must have studied English as a language in their degree for 2 years / 4 semesters and should have secured an aggregate of 50% marks in the English language and a 50% pass mark in the entrance test conducted by RIESI, Bengaluru for admission. |

| 1.2 |
In case of SC / ST candidates, there shall be a relaxation up to 5% marks in the required aggregate either in the language specific or over all aggregate. This relaxation will be applicable to all the SC / ST candidates from all over India or submission of a certificate to the effect. |

Age limit 40 years relaxable by 5 years in case of SC / ST candidates. In case of in service candidates deputed by the member states there is no age limit. |

| 6. |
Attendance: |
| |
| 6.1 |
A student-teacher must have 80% of attendance in each semester in all theory papers and practicum. Attendance shortage to the extent of 5% can be condoned by the university on the recommendation of the concerned Principal of the college levying a penalty as shall be prescribed by Bangalore University, Bengaluru. |

|
| 6.2 |
A student-teacher must submit all assignments of 1st and2nd semesters to qualify himself / herself for appearing for 2nd semester examination. Those who do not submit are not eligible to take-up examinations. |
| |
|
| 6.3 |
Submission of assignments, appearing for class-tests and participation in practical activities conducted by the college in respect of core-papers, C.C.M. Papers, participation in C.L.C. and Excursion are compulsory. Those who fail to do so are not eligible for appearing for 1st and 2nd semester examinations. |

Teaching Practice: |
| |
Every student teacher shall prepare 12 lesson plans in each C.C.M subject, which are to be guided and approved by the concerned methods teacher. Another one lesson in each CCM shall be a criticism lesson, which will be supervised and discussed. The marks of 4 lessons out of 12 lessons should be taken for internal assessment. |

| 9.4 |
Declaration of Results |
| |
| 9.4.1 |
A student - teacher should obtain a minimum of 50% of the marks in the aggregate of all core and CCM subjects in the 1st and 2nd semester examinations separately to pass the examination. There is no third class in this semester scheme. |
| |
|
| 9.4.2 |
A student has to secure 60% and above in the aggregate in all the core and CCM subjects including Practicum I and II in both the 1st and 2nd Semesters taken together to be eligible for First Class i.e. a student should obtain 840 marks and above in total in both the semesters to be eligible for I Class. Candidates should have passed in one attempt to be considered for I Class. |

| 9.4.3 |
A candidate who has failed in the first semester may be allowed in the second semester to write the papers in which he / she has failed in the first semester, together with second semester examination. But, such repeaters do not have the benefit of I Class though the total aggregate marks are equal or more than the marks fixed for I Class. |

| 9.4.4 |
A candidate who fails in the first and / or second semester examination has to clear in 3 subsequent attempts to have the passing certificate in B.Ed. semester course provided he/she has secured minimum 50% of marks in aggregate of core and CCM subjects. |
| |
|
| 9.4.5 |
A candidate has to submit in each activity, records under practicum part failing which he / she will not be allowed to take the examination. However, such candidates can take another attempt in the next academic year and submit the records to the college which is final. |
| |
|
| 9.4.6 |
Principal of the concerned college shall certify and award the marks on the basis of performance in consultation with the teacher concerned and forward the statement of marks to the Registrar (Evaluation) of the University for Declaration of results. |
| |
|
| 9.4.7 |
The awarding of ranks shall be based on the theory marks only. |
| |
|
| 9.4.8 |
Candidates who pass in theory part or practicum part in both the semesters shall be declared to have passed in that part only. A candidate passing in both the parts is deemed to have passed the course or deemed to have obtained first class subject to the stipulations laid down. |
| |
|
| 9.4.9 |
A candidate failing to obtain the prescribed minimum in any subject or part as stipulated in the scheme of examination as given in 8.1 may be permitted to repeat the examination in that particular subject only. However, internal assessment marks obtained under theory part and practicum part shall be final once for all. The candidate has to secure a minimum of 25 marks in each CCM to pass in the practical examination. |

| 9.4.10 |
Only candidates completing the first and second semester course in first attempt shall have the benefit of having first class and / or rank declared in his / her case, if he / she is eligible for the same as per the stipulation laid down under these regulations. |

|
| 10. |
Conduct of Practical Examination |
| |
Practical Examination will be conducted by Bangalore University, Bengaluru following the norms stipulated by the University. |

| |
|
| 11. |
Community Living Camp and Excursion |
| |
| 11.1 |
Each student – teacher has to compulsorily participate and submit a report on his / her participation in a 4-day community living camp exclusively conducted at a rural place by the college. The CLC should aim at fostering qualities like collective work, co-operative living, fellow feeling, like mindedness towards rural culture etc., among student teachers. The college shall arrange to have such activities in CLC that foster the above orientations. |

| 11.2 |
Each college shall conduct an excursion for a minimum period of THREE days to visit places of Educational, Historical, Cultural and Technical importance. Each student teacher must compulsorily take part in the excursion and submit a report to the college. |
| |
|
| 11.3 |
CLC and Excursion shall be conducted one in each semester according to the convenience of the college concerned. |
|

| |
|
| 12. |

The trainees should be regular to the classes and have at least a minimum of 80% attendance |

| 12.2 |
The trainees should compulsorily attend all the course related activities like teaching practice sessions, class tests, seminars, practical activities conducted by the college from time to time |

The trainees should not indulge in any kind of activity that destroys the peaceful academic atmosphere of the college |

| 12.4 |
The loss of any library book issued to the students will be expected to be replaced |
| |
|
| 12.5 |
Any breakage or loss of the laboratory / teaching / sports equipments by the students individually or as a group should be paid for. |

|
| 12.6 |
Leave will not be granted in lieu of attendance. In case of major health problems, the student shall produce a medical certificate along with leave application. |

|
| 12.7 |
The trainees who stay in the hostel should abide by the rules and regulations stipulated by the warden. |

Entrance Test:
- The Entrance Test will be for three-hour duration and will be conducted at RIESI, Bengaluru. The test will test the candidate’s language proficiency in general. It will include both objective and descriptive questions (60:40).
- The candidates should secure a minimum of 50% in the entrance test to become eligible for admission to the degree programme besides fulfilling the other eligibility criteria.
- The date for the entrance test will be intimated to the candidates after the scrutiny of the applications received.
