- Should be from not below the rank of Joint Director of the Education Department or in the scale of Rs. 20025 – 28275
- Administrative experience of 5 years

Age Limit:
- Should be not below the age of 45 years
- Superannuation age fixed by the respective organization (State Government / University / any other authorized institution) from which the Director is deputed to RIESI

Pay:
Rs. 20025 – 525 – 22650 – 600 – 26250 – 675 – 28275 (2007 Karnataka Revised Pay Rules) plus allowances as admissible from time to time in the Institute
The selected officer may retain his / her own scale of pay plus a deputation allowance (as per his / her state rules) and HRA and CCA as per the Karnataka pay rules OR opt for the Institute scale of pay

Accommodation:
Rent free quarters / allowance approved by the Board of Governors

General Duties and Responsibilities:
The Regional Institute of English, South India, Bengaluru, is a registered Society consisting of 11 members on the Board, of which the Director of the Institute is the ex-officio Secretary.
The Director shall be the Principal academic and Executive Officer of the Institute and shall be responsible for the proper administration of the Institute and for the imparting of instruction and maintenance of discipline. The Director shall be responsible for management of English Language Education in the member states according to prevalent policies and perspective. Networking with various other academic institutions for achieving the Institute agenda, with special emphasis on staff development and ensuring professional growth is the key role. Interpersonal skills, HRD and computer handling proficiency are essential accomplishments to govern the Institute in an efficient manner. The Director shall have such other powers and shall perform such duties as may be delegated to him / her by the Board.
